The Gadsden Flag
Available in 12x22” and 16x30”.
Origin: The American Revolutionary Period
History: Named after the designer, Christopher Gadsden, a South Carolina delegate to Continental Congress and Brigadier General in the Continental Army in 1775. BG Gadsden intended the flag as a warning to Britain not to violate the liberties of it's American subjects.
Symbolism: The rattlesnake was a symbol of the unity of the Thirteen Colonies at the start of the Revolutionary War. The rattlesnake had long been a political symbol in America, even being used by Benjamin Franklin in the "Join, or Die" woodcut, in 1754.
All flags are made of kiln dried 3/4” thick knotty pine. Please remember the natural differences in wood and the unique craftsmanship that is a result of being hand made. Colors in the wood may have slight variants.
